Intimate Partner Violence, also known as IPV, is a wide umbrella of violence that happens within relationships. This includes any sexual, physical, or mental harm; it does not require intimacy, and can be perpetrated by any member in a relationship.
My career goals involve working to end IPV, specifically through working in sexual and/or domestic violence prevention programs. Throughout my undergraduate career, I plan to work in a variety of settings to enhance my skills in supporting survivors and combating root causes of this epidemic. Below, you can find descriptions of my work thus far. |
sexual assault advocacy- ramsey county sos
In the fall of 2016, I became certified to be a sexual assault advocate through SOS Sexual Violence Services of Ramsey County. This involved 45+ hours of training in October about the affect of sexual assault on the community, different identities, and how to best respond and support victim survivors in the immediate wake of trauma. Now, I am on call about 4 times a month to provide support for primary and secondary victims who call the crisis line, and to provide in-person support for victim survivors who go to Ramsey County hospitals to receive a SANE exam.
